As a student of the Faith Wired Internet Bible study, I agree to
Internet group syllabus Colossians The internet can be a powerful way to interact, but it has definite limitations. The power is in the time and convenience that it affords to make thoughtful, considered responses to the scripture, to the assigned readings, and to each other. The limitations are the lack of non-verbal communication and the warmth of personal contact. In order to make the experience profitable for all, this group will require your active and prompt interaction with the material and each other in an engaging and supportive manner. The group will use asynchronous interaction. Asynchronous interaction means that you make your postings and responses according to your own schedule, whether that it is the middle of the day or night. Description: The short letter to the Colossians was probably a companion letter to Ephesians. Paul focuses upon the supremacy and all-sufficiency of Christ both to the church and to all creation. Jesus has broken the power of darkness and has invited all believers to share in this restored dominion through His sacrifice on the cross. Introductory meeting: Saturday, April 26, 9-10:30 a.m.Reading: Ephesians & Colossians, Spirit-Filled Life New Testament Commentary Series, by David P. Seemuth. Available at the Resource Center . Postings and discussions: The reflection questions are to help reflect (!) on what the text says. Post your answers on the website for all to share. Post your responses before you read the other members’ submissions. The discussion questions are for us to dialogue about. After posting your response, make a comment about at least two other postings. Do not wait until the last minute or you will be left out of the discussion, and we will not have the benefit of your insights. Since there are going to be 10 of us, please keep your submissions brief, that is, no more than a paragraph or two. Some reflection questions will be able to be answered with one or two sentences. Discussions questions may require longer responses, but remember to be concise and to the point. Etiquette: Since online work precludes all non-verbal cues, careful consideration must be made to how we respond to each other. You may want to use emoticons J to clarify if you are not sure if your intent is clear, but reading over your comments before you post them is essential. Comments that attack, degrade, or question another’s integrity or motives are not appropriate. Use full sentences in your postings. Do not use IM or text messaging abbreviations! Do not write in ALL CAPS. Use an easy to read font like Times New Roman or Garamond. Please stay on track. This is not the place to chase your favorite rabbit trail. Read the material before you respond. We are on a journey to learn from God and each other. God has promised to make Himself known when we diligently seek Him. When you register, please fill out the personal profile so that we can all know something about each other. |
