Ben Markham - Youth PastorI was born in Lansing MI, and I am a devoted MSU fan. When I was four, my father moved us to Ann Arbor MI where he took on his first pastorate at New Hope Tabernacle. When I was eleven my father felt the call of God to move us to Cadillac MI where he became the senior pastor of Revival Center Church. When I was eighteen I obeyed the voice of the Lord and moved to Flint MI to study youth ministry at Faith Tabernacle. As a teenager, I was privileged to be apart of a wonderful youth ministry. Although it was a bit rough around the edges the youth ministry that I was apart of was a great experience for me. In the summer between my freshman and sophomore years of high school our youth ministry exploded. We saw teenagers getting saved every week and were constantly busy hanging out and having fun. That group grew from 12 to 70 teenagers in a matter of months. It was a very exciting time for me and I cherish the memories I have from that time of my youth. In the fall of my junior year I went to a youth conference called "Generation on Fire." It was an amazing weekend for me, because it was there that I accepted the call of God on my life to preach. I didn't know whom I was going to preach to and when I gave my testimony about "accepting the call" I was a nervous wreck, trembling with fear. Nevertheless, God brought me through it as I managed to get the rest of the words out of my mouth and ever since then he has provided many opportunities to share my faith with others. At the beginning of my senior year again I heard God speaking to me, this time instilling in me a passion to reach out to my generation and the next generation of teenagers. I have since embraced ministry to teenagers and pray everyday that God will continue to develop me as a Christian and youth pastor. |
