FTYD Staff Training
Pastor Ben will be doing leadership staff training for all adults that will be working with the youth department this school year. The training session is Sunday, August 17th from 5 – 9 pm in the Auditorium. If you would like to work with the youth group this year, please contact Pastor Ben Markham for details.
Vertical & Elevate Worship Night
Calling all teenagers ~ Start this school year off right by putting God first and making youth group a priority in your life. Wednesday, August 20th at 7:00 p.m. will be a night dedicated to worship and it will only last one hour. Vertical and Elevate (6th - 12th graders) will be meeting in the Auditorium for an AWESOME worship service where our youth band will be performing their new songs for the year. TEENS ~ YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS IT!
Vertical & Elevate
Vertical (6th – 8th graders) and Elevate (9th - 12th graders) will be meeting during the school year with their youth services, which include worship, message and small groups starting on Wednesday, August 27th at 7:00 – 8:45 pm. They will begin in the Auditorium and then Vertical will break off and go into the Sanctuary. Get ready for a great year!

I often talk to teenagers about filters. We all know that filters separate what they are designed to separate. Air filters in your car, home or work are designed to separate impurities in the air. They accomplish this because they were designed to. I think every one of us has designed a cultural filter. This filter helps us decide what will and won’t influence us from culture. As followers of Christ our filters often look much different from the rest of the world because the design of our filter has been altered by the Holy Spirit. Living a life in surrender to Christ means that our filters are based on the principles Christ employed in his life. That’s a high standard I know, but we’ve been given the Holy Spirit to empower and equip us as we walk in this world without being of it.

Summer! Hurray for summer! We are really looking forward to summer. We have many things planned. First we are closing the chapter on our first year with Vertical. We have taken notes on what works and what doesn't and are looking forward to the new year with familiar and new faces. Our goal for the next year is Biblical literacy.
This summer we start with a Bible Study at our home with a time for games, swimming and a method that will teach the students to read and divide God's word for themselves. The method is from Kay Arthur, a predominant christian leader. Look for details at the Youth Booth. Enough about Vertical.
